Devices are registered with the State Institute for Drug Control (ŠÚKL).
How market entry works here
1 · Registration
Notification of the device with the State Institute for Drug Control (ŠÚKL). Class IIa, IIb and III are mandatory; instructions for use must be in Slovak.
2 · Categorisation
Listing in the Ministry of Health register of categorised special medical material. Without it there is no reimbursement from public health insurance – and in practice no hospital sales. The Ministry decides within 270 days.
3 · Tender
Hospitals buy through public procurement. We enter the tenders and prepare the documentation.
4 · First procedures
Introduction into clinical practice: proctoring, workshops, the first implants with our clinical specialists in the room.
5 · Stock and logistics
Our own stock and delivery to sites across the country.
6 · Service and training
In-house service and training shaped by what each site actually needs.
Two examples, not promises
Tendyne. For transcatheter mitral valve replacement we had the reimbursement restriction changed from a single centre to every centre. That is not a delivery. That is access to a therapy patients would otherwise not receive.
ECMO. We have been developing extracorporeal life support in Slovakia for more than thirteen years – from the first sites through staff training to ECPR.
